About the course

Are you a school leaver that is looking to own and run your own business but needs to improve their GCSE English and maths skills? This Level 2 Business and Enterprise course is designed to provide individuals with the essential knowledge and skills required to start and operate a business or enterprise. Whether your goal is to start your own business or play a role in the success of established enterprises, this course offers a solid foundation, unlocking doors to exciting opportunities in business.

The course focuses on practical aspects of entrepreneurship, including market research, financial planning, marketing strategies, and business operations. Within this course you will develop a range of skills whilst achieving a range of qualifications. You will be able to improve your English or maths skills, develop your study skills and gain a qualification in business and administration and an award in enterprise.

What are the entry requirements?

To join this programme you would need to have 4 GCSE's at least at Grade 2/3 or equivalent.

Where can I progress next?

On successful completion of this course you could progress onto BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Business Studies or if you have achieved and passed your GCSE in English and Maths (at Grade 4) you could progress directly to a BTEC National or Extended Diploma in Business or alternatively the T Level in Business and Administration.



Is this course free?

At South & City College Birmingham, we offer a wide range of courses for most age groups.

School Leavers: For learners who are between the ages of 16 to 18, studies will be free.

Adults: For learners who are aged 19 or over, the cost of study will depend on the course or programme that you choose. Some courses may even be free*. If the course is not free, students aged 19 at the start of their programme who wish to study need to either pay their course fees, or take out an Advanced Learning Loan.

*Eligibility criteria applies. There may be an exception for students aged 19 or over that are taking their first full Level 3 qualifications (equivalent to A Levels and Access to HE Diplomas), who could be supported by the Learner Support Fund, or free adult course funded by the WMCA. Higher Education: If you are planning to undertake one of our Higher Education courses you can apply for a loan with Student Finance England, or apply for an Advanced Learner Loan with the college to support towards your course fees.
