About the course

Do you have a keen interest in fashion, textiles, styling & promotion? This one-year Level 2 Diploma in Fashion & Textiles at our Fusion Campus will challenge you to develop an experimental & multi-disciplinary portfolio of work, supportive of your own future goals and dreams. You will be supported by a team of industry professionals with experience in the field of fashion, textiles and styling & promotion. Ideal for budding designers, our Fashion School is located 5 minutes from the Bullring and our Digbeth campus.

During your time on the course, you will explore a range of interesting materials, techniques and processes related to the following options, fashion, textiles and styling & promotions. This course will involve learning all of the basic skills to allow you to progress with your chosen specialism at Level 3.

What are the entry requirements?

To join this exciting course you will need: A portfolio of past or current work you can bring to an interview. Commitment and enthusiasm for Fashion, Textiles, Styling or Promotion. You will also need to fulfil one of the criteria below: Four GCSEs grade 3 or above including GCSE Art and Design BTEC Introductory Diploma in Art (Distinction) or Merit grade plus 1 GCSE at grade 3 BTEC Introductory Certificate in Art (Merit or Distinction) plus at least 2 GCSEs at grade 3 or above NCFE Level 1 Art and Design / NCFE Level 1 Interactive Media We look forward to working with you and helping you to kick-start your creative journey here with us at SCCB.

Where can I progress next?

Successful completion of the course enables you to progress onto our Level 3 Extended Diploma in Fashion & Textiles or the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Styling & Promotion.



Is this course free?

At South & City College Birmingham, we offer a wide range of courses for most age groups.

School Leavers: For learners who are between the ages of 16 to 18, studies will be free.

Adults: For learners who are aged 19 or over, the cost of study will depend on the course or programme that you choose. Some courses may even be free*. If the course is not free, students aged 19 at the start of their programme who wish to study need to either pay their course fees, or take out an Advanced Learning Loan.

*Eligibility criteria applies. There may be an exception for students aged 19 or over that are taking their first full Level 3 qualifications (equivalent to A Levels and Access to HE Diplomas), who could be supported by the Learner Support Fund, or free adult course funded by the WMCA. Higher Education: If you are planning to undertake one of our Higher Education courses you can apply for a loan with Student Finance England, or apply for an Advanced Learner Loan with the college to support towards your course fees.
