About the course

This one-year qualification is for you if you are looking to start a career in the construction sector and learn a trade as a plasterer. There are separate classes for 16-18 year olds and for adults. You will be introduced to the world of construction at our dedicated training facility based in the Bordesley Green campus. State-of-the-art workshops, equipped with professional quality tools, means that you will be learning in an environment which simulates a real-life building site.

You will learn the basic principles of plastering to enable you to successfully plaster a traditional two coat plastered wall, fix a corner bead and skim a ceiling. You will be taught how to use plastering tools and equipment and be able to identify the correct materials to use.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no entry requirements other than an interest in learning more about construction with a view to working in the industry. 16-19 year old learners are also required to attend English and maths lessons, either as a Functional Skill or GCSE, unless they are exempt and have previously attained a GCSE grade 4 and above.

Where can I progress next?

You could progress on to the Plastering Level 2 course or an apprenticeship.
