About the course

This Level 2 one-year qualification is for you if you are looking to start a career in the construction sector and learn a trade as a carpenter. There are separate classes for 16-18 year olds and for adults. Our construction centres are the perfect place for you to develop your skills and knowledge of the profession. You will benefit from fully equipped workshops with industry standard equipment, and tutors, who have a wealth of industry experience, to help you get to grips with this fast-paced industry. You can focus on either carpentry or bench joinery.

You will develop a comprehensive range of woodworking skills and practical techniques. The course includes the setup and operation of a circular saw, carcassing, first fixing (partitions, frames, and stairs), second fixing (doors, locks, and kitchens), as well as carpentry maintenance and repairs..

What are the entry requirements?

You'll need to have completed the Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery at Level 1 if you are 16-18. If you are aged 19+ then you will go direct onto a Level 2. If you have not achieved your maths and English to GCSE Grade 4, you will study for these alongside this course.

Where can I progress next?

This course will provide you with the necessary skills, training and knowledge to progress to either become an apprentice site carpenter or gain entry-level employment in the construction industry. We would recommend progressing to Diploma in Carpentry Level 3 to open further career opportunities.
